Having grown up in Pretoria, Diedré studied Electron Microscopy at the Technicon of Pretoria and worked for the Agricultural Research Council. She later moved to the Eastern Cape and resided there until 2014.

In 2006 an opportunity arose to do an oil painting workshop with late Louise Audie. Since then Diedré has been painting and did numerous workshops hosted by various artists, namely Bob Mackenzie, Dale Elliot, Peter Midlane, Shirley Howells and Richard Rennie.  

After being widowed in 2012, she and her children moved to Zastron where she began to give art lessons to adults. Her preferred medium is oil paint and graphite.

She is very passionate about art and her Christian faith, believing herself to be an instrument of the Lord, and blessed with the ability to create art.
